Long before Sam Wood was arrested and charged with domestic violence offences, the fitness entrepreneur had spoken publicly about the pressures that had tested his marriage to Snezana Wood.
In a 2025 interview with Mamamia, Wood revealed that the couple had attended couples counselling after tensions surrounding parenting and family life intensified during the COVID lockdowns.
Describing their home life at the time as a “pressure-cooker environment”, Wood said he and Snezana frequently disagreed over boundaries and discipline, particularly while raising Snezana’s daughter, Evie, during her teenage years. He acknowledged that the conflict placed strain on their relationship.
Wood also admitted he was initially defensive when Snezana suggested seeking professional help. However, he later described the counselling sessions as “interesting and beneficial”, saying an impartial perspective helped the couple work through their disagreements.
The comments have resurfaced after Wood, 46, was arrested in Noosa on Saturday night and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting. He appeared in court by video link on Monday and remains in custody, with his lawyer saying he intends to defend the charges and seek bail on Thursday.
Wood and Snezana have said their family is cooperating with authorities and described the situation as a difficult time for them all.
