What began as a luxury family getaway in Noosa has turned into a dramatic legal crisis for former The Bachelor star Sam Wood.
The 46-year-old fitness entrepreneur was staying with his family at a luxury property on Hastings Street when police were called at about 9pm on Saturday following reports of an alleged domestic violence incident. Wood was subsequently arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting.
Neighbours described the normally peaceful beachfront setting being disrupted by the arrival of police and paramedics. Reports say Wood was taken to the Maroochydore Watchhouse, where he has remained in custody after being refused police bail.
His lawyer, Mathew Cuskelly, has indicated that Wood will defend the charges and seek bail at his next court appearance on Thursday, October 8.
Meanwhile, the professional fallout has been swift. DBG Health has terminated its commercial relationship with Wood, while his fitness business has moved to new leadership.
Once known for building a multimillion-dollar fitness empire, Wood now faces a battle that could reshape both his career and public image.
